Top Ten Tuesday: Books Lingering On My TBR Shelves

I’ve got a break in my story time schedule that I’m planning on filling with some professional development reading. Being a professional means always keeping up with the latest developments in your field, which can also mean doing a lot of reading. Fortunately for me it’s usually pretty interesting stuff!

2. In Pictures and in Words by Katie Ray Wood
3. More Storytime Magic by MacMillian and Kirker
4. The Power of Play : Designing Early Learning Spaces by Stoltz, Conner, and Bradberry
5. Baby Storytime Magic by MacMillian and Kirker

Do not talk to me about TBR shelves. I have two entire full bookshelf shelves of books I currently own and either have not read (that shelf is double-stacked so tightly I physically cannot fit another book in, and there are a few books lying horizontally on top of the others) or have read (partly? a long time ago?) and need to reread to determine whether these are keepers or not. This does not include the many (many many many many many) pieces of paper scattered around my room, drawers, and files of books I would very much like to read.

Nafiza is not helping this situation. (<3)

1. More Happy Than Not by Adam Silvera
2. The Night Parade by Kathryn Tanquary
3. If You Come Softly by Jacqueline Woodson
4. Dear Genius: The Letters of Ursula Nordstrom. Just about every book and blog post on How To Be An Editor recommends reading this book
5. “Fire” by Elizabeth Wein because it is apparently impossible to find. Still. I have hope that when the latest novels in Wein’s Aksumite cycle are published (to her publishers: this is a *hint*), this Very Important short story will be added on as extra material at the back of the book, in the manner of Megan Whalen Turner’s Eddisian short stories. (This is another *hint*)

All books linger on my shelves. Always. I have been trying to read more of books I already own but sometimes it’s difficult. It just is. I am not convincing anybody. I have 516 unread books okay. *weep* Here are some of the ones I totally am still excited to read:

1. Madapple – Christina Meldrum
   I have no idea what this is about. I just know I wanted to read it and I still do. And I will. Someday.
2. A College of Magics – Caroline Stevermer
   Jane Yolan (maybe) called it better than Harry Potter. I consider that high praise so I hope to get to this soon.
3. Lair of Dreams – Libba Bray
   I actually read 32 pages of this a few days ago but had to put it down so I could read something else. I will be continuing this beast soon.
4. The Goldfinch – Donna Tartt
   SIGH. I wanted this SO MUCH and I have had it and haven’t read it and I must.
5. Night Film – Marisha Pessl
   Ditto.
6. North and South – Elizabeth Gaskell

This is a very small sampling of my TBR books. Maybe I should make a video featuring all the title. Pfft. I’d much rather spend the time reading.
