It is with great delight and bright-eyed glee that I am able to announce that the Book Warriors will embark on a readalong of Megan Whalen Turner’s The Queen’s Thief books. We will start in March with The Thief, turn to The Queen of Attolia in April, continue onto The King of Attolia in May, and finish in June with A Conspiracy of Kings. And hey, maybe by then the long-anticipated and very mysterious Book 5 will be out.
Hey, I can hope.
Oh my goodness, you guys, I can’t wait!
Basic things you need to know: not everybody has read the books before, so if your comment contains spoilers please preface it with SPOILER. I don’t want to mess with anybody’s reading experience. The discussion post will go up on the first Thursday of each month.
What we’re reading when:
- The Thief has 12 chapters = 3 a week
- The Queen of Attolia has 21 chapters = 6 a week (the last week will be short)
- The King of Attolia has 14 chapters = 3 a week (the last week will be long)
- A Conspiracy of Kings has 22 chapters = 5 a week (since June has 5 Thursdays; the last week will be very short indeed but we can then talk about all four books and speculate on the fifth. There will be no shortage of things to say.)
- ALSO if you have the editions with bonus material, we’ll talk about that, too. Short stories, guys!
I really am. That isn’t Kuzko, it’s me. (Gen hasn’t stolen those enormous earrings yet.) These are going to be four deliriously happy months.
Give a shout-out in the comments if you’re in, or borderline, or totally not sure but interested anyway. Happy reading!
I’m innnn! *waves white flags* I will give in.
You will be so glad you did.
And look, you’ve made me so happy already! [see Kuzko gif]
Because Nafiza said to sign up ;)
And I love this series!
Woohoo!
I am so in love with this series. Queen of Attolia (my favorite book) is actually sitting in my TBR pile right now.
Unfortunately, I think I’ll pass on the read along–I’m too busy with school & work to read new books half the time, much less reread a series I’ve read so many times already. But I hope you guys have tons of fun!
I cringe as I say this but…I’ve never heard of this series! Provided I can find the book in time, I’m all in :) Thanks for hosting! – Alyson
IN! And I notice that Simini Blocker reblogged this post on Tumblr, so I see more people joining in!
I’m in, although I might hold off reading all of the books until June and then rush through them in one fell swoop…. I get so impatient!
Or you could read them in one fell swoop in March, and reread them over the subsequent months :)
I will totally do this. I reread them all about twice a year anyway, so great fun to do it in a group! (And wouldn’t it be awesome if we got an announcement about book 5?!)(Because, you know, if we all wish really hard at the same time, I’m sure she’ll write faster!)
(We’ll keep trying, though, right? It COULD work one of these days.)
SO EXCITING *sparkly eyes* I do want to re-read all the books this year, too. (And I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Book 5…)
A fifth book! I’m with Kim, wishing as hard as I can.
Reblogged this on Tangled Words and commented:
If you haven’t read this series yet, you are seriously missing out! Here’s your chance to read them all with a terrific blog group.
I missed the Pellinor readalong (I was overseas) but this gives me a reason to finally read A Conspiracy of Kings which has been glaring at me from my bookshelf for over a year. <3 Gen.
I just saw this linked on Sounis and I’m very interested. It’s ironic, but I just started my own (very fast) reread in December and finished it a few days ago – I found myself wishing for someone to discuss with at the time. I might not totally keep up with the readings because I just finished my own reread, but I will definitely check back for the discussion! It’s been way too long since the QT community has done something like this.
I’m glad you popped over here! I haven’t seen any readalongs on Sounis since I joined, so hopefully this doesn’t step on anybody’s toes. See you at the discussion!
I’m in! I’m excited for more people to experience these amazing books.
Excellent! Me too :)
