TTT: Recently Added To Our TBR Lists …

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme started by the brilliant folks at The Broke and the Bookish. *sigh* Anyone else feel like their TBR pile is the only pile that grows?

Yes, my TBR pile is like an infestation of tribbles…

1. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater. This isn’t entirely true, this series has been on my radar for a while but I just never got around to even reserving it at the library or acquiring my own copy at all. But it’s done now, I’m going to read it!
2. Kass Morgan’s The 100 is one nearing the top of my TBR. I watched the first season of the show but was a little turned off by all of the over-dramatic people melodrama… still, I’ve heard good things about the original series so I’m going to give the first installment a go.
3. Saga the Graphic Novel series was recently lent to me by my sister and her hubby and so, that’s going to be read within the next week and I expect to fully fall in love with it.
4. Zahrah the Windseeker and The Shadow Speaker by Nnedi Okorafor. We did a cover wars recently that featured one of Okorafor’s books (a novella called Binti) and the synopsis and cover were so striking that I looked her up… and realized that she’s the author of Akata Witch which has been on my TBR for far too long. Anyway, her books have made it onto my pile but these two, fantasy and sci-fi with POC characters (that don’t need to explain themselves!) well, they just seem too interesting not to at least try.
5. Zeroes by Scott Westerfeld. I have mostly enjoyed Westerfeld’s work and this is, of course, a speculative dystopia so . . . it has been added to the pile. :)

1. Winterwood by Jacey Bedford
   This one is a fantasy of manners (or so it’s implied) and I feel like I’ll enjoy it a lot. We’ll see.
2. The No You Never Listened To by Meggie Royer
   I just have to find a way to acquire this as it is by a small press and those can be expensive and difficult to get hold of. But hope springs eternal.
3. Rosalie Lightning by Tom Hart
   This is a graphic memoir and we all know how much I love those. Apparently it’s also very painful and heartwrenching. Bring it on!
4. The Woman Who Thought She Was a Planet and Other Stories – Vandana Singh
   This is all Yash’s fault.
5. The Dud Avocado – Elaine Dundy
   With a title like that, how can I not read this book?
6. Roses and Rot by Kat Howard
   I know very little about this except that it is fantasy and being released by Saga Press. Bring it, I say. Give it to me!

1. Black Apple by Joan Crate is the story of Sinopaki, a Blackfoot girl taken to a residential school (which, I’m hoping, she escapes?).
2. Audrey (Cow) by Dan Bar-El and Tatjana May-Wyss. Serendipitous find at the library.
3. The Girl With Seven Names by Hyeonseo Lee with David John.
4. The Raven Boys by Maggie Stiefvater, because The Scorpio Races was fantastic.
5. Pax by Sara Pennypacker. Irresistable.
6. The Art of Worldly Wisdom by Baltasar Gracian. A 17th-century book by a Spanish Jesuit priest that gives advice on how to maintain integrity when among people of great power. According to a book that had an astonishingly wonderful quote from The Art of Worldly Wisdom, anyway.

1. Pretty Monsters by Kelly Link: It’s Kelly Link. And it’s illustrated by Shaun freaking Tan. I mean, I am kind of confused by the fact that I haven’t read this already.
2. Swordspoint by Ellen Kushner: This is my pick for the “Listen to an Audie award winning audiobook” prompt in the Read Harder challenge. (Plus, I believe there are new short stories? Set in this world? One of them by Malinda Lo! I would like to read that ASAP.)
3. If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo: A novel that features a trans character and, for once, isn’t by a cis writer. Important.
4. Hoodoo by Ronald L. Smith: Recently received the Coretta Scott King/John Steptoe New Talent Author Award.
5. Weetzie Bat by Francesca Lia Block: A friend on Tumblr recommended this over Love in the Time of Global Warming. It does look less sad? (Watch me weep buckets over this. No, actually don’t. Look away. Stop.)
