TTT: We Resolve To Read …

Top Ten Tuesday

Top Ten Tuesday is a meme started by the brilliant folks at The Broke and the Bookish. Sometimes we follow their prompts, sometimes we don’t. Today … kinda? Instead of resolutions, I thought I would get our team to list the books they resolve to read this year. Some books needs a little push, don’t they?

Ooer, okay. I can so do this.

  1. Shantaram – Gregory David Roberts
This is cheating because I’m already reading this but it’s slow going because it is 936 pages and there are no dragons. Still, I resolve to finish this before 2016 ends.
  2. Shadowshaper – Daniel Jose Older
Yash has convinced me and I have an ARC languishing on my shelves so I shall make it happen.
  3. The Butterfly Mosque – G. Willow Wilson
I’ve had this book for a very. long. time. I need to read this and put us all out of our miseries.
  4. The Lynburn Legacy – Sarah Rees Brennan
The only way I can allow myself to start Sarah’s new book (series?) is by finishing this one.
  5. The Secret History – Donna Tartt
need to read this so I can read The Goldfinch. Because really, I want to know what kinda brilliant writer Tartt is.

There are so many…

  1. I haven’t read any Sarah Rees Brennan and she’s got a new book coming out called Tell the Wind & Fire so I think I’ll start there. (Haha, just noticed she’s on Nafiza’s list too!)
  2. The rest of the Red Rising trilogy because I really enjoyed the writing style and the depth of the first one and just need to make the time for the rest.
  3. I kind of want to read some of Neil Gaiman’s adult novels like The Anansi Boys or Bad Omens or even American Gods
  4. I haven never read Skellig by David Almond. This must be remedied.
  5. Maggot Moon by Sally Gardner. For obvious reasons.
  6. THERE ARE SO MANY MORE! There are books that are coming out that I need to read (like all of Marissa Meyer’s books!) etc… but I suppose that’ll just have to wait for another TTT.

Oh hey, did you guys know we have a Reading Challenges section now? Here are five of my (fifty) listed picks:

  1. Beauty is a Wound by Eka Kurniavan
  2. The Fifth Kingdom by N. K. Jemisin
  3. The Grace of Kings by Ken Liu
  4. The Sea Is Ours: Tales from Steampunk Southeast Asia by Jaymee Goh and Joyce Chng
  5. Tippoo Sultan’s Incredible White-Man-Eating Tiger Toy-Machine!!! byDaljit Nagra

Didn’t we do this or something extremely similar a few weeks ago? I’ll try not to repeat myself too much.

  1. The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser: 2016 looks to be an extremely busy year, so my goal is to finish the first book, loath though I am to leave Una and George.
  2. Skeleton Man and The Winter People have whetted my appetite for more stories by Joseph Bruchac.
  3. Serpentine by Cindy Pon.
  4. The Sherwood Ring by Elizabeth Marie Pope. This year I will not be thwarted; I will find a copy.
  5. Akata Witch by Nnedi Okorafor.

  1. Ahhh. You just tempted me to add SO many more books to my already infinite TBR! There are so many great books to read this year…

      • Yeah. I was tempted to put “cut down TBR” on my goals this year, but as I thought it, I had to laugh at myself because for every book I read, I add 5 more onto the TBR shelf… Not sorry about it, I just wish I could read more/ that there was more time.

  2. I love Neil Gaiman’s adult novels, so far American Gods is my favorite with The Ocean at the End of the Lane a close second, and I still have more in my TBR pile!

    • Hey, we don’t do Follow Backs, but we do think your blog is awesome enough to attract many readers and followers anyway.
