If you’ve been thinking about registering to hear Jacquelilne Woodson talk but haven’t quite committed, now is the time to do so. This may well be one of those VCLR events you will regret having missed.
Ms. Woodson will be speaking Friday May 8 at 7:00 p.m. at Robson Square–it is easy to get there using transit, and underground parking is inexpensive at that time of day.
Most importantly, it will be a delightful evening!
Ms. Woodson is the winner of the 2014 national Book Award for her book Brown Girl Dreaming. She is the author of more than two dozen books for young people. The recipient of many awards, she is a three-time Newbery Honor winner, a three-time National Book Award finalist, as well as a Coretta Scott King Award winner. Her books include The Other Side, Each Kindness, Beneath A Meth Moon, the Caldecott Honor Book Coming On Home Soon, Feathers, and Miracle’s Boys, which received the LA Times Book Prize and was adapted into a miniseries directed by Spike Lee. Jacqueline is also the recipient of the Jane Addams Children’s Book Award, and the Margaret A. Edwards Award for lifetime achievement for her contributions to young adult literature. In 2013 she was the United States nominee for the Hans Christian Andersen Award.
