Top Ten Tuesday: Here We Go Again aka My Fall TBR List

Top Ten Books On My Fall To-Be-Read list. Brought to you by The Broke and The Bookish.

Not going to lie, when I saw the title of this top ten, I stifled a groan because I’m notoriously bad at keeping to my lists. I mean, I make lists fine, I love making lists. It’s just the whole reading that’s the problem. I read everything but what’s on the list. But! I’m going to be sneaky this time around and put on the list books I have to read (because they’re review copies) and not books I’d potentially read if I weren’t so self-destructive where reading lists are concerned.

1. The Scandalous Sisterhood of  Prickwillow Place – Julie Berry
   This was featured on a cover wars post and the few pages I have read have been quite promising.
2. Egg and Spoon – Gregory Maguire
   Another Cover Wars book. I like his writing so I am looking forward to this one.
3. Long Lankin – Lindsey Barraclough
   Creepy story for October.
4. Stitching Snow – R. C. Lewis
   Another one for October.
5. Dissonance – Erica O’Rourke
   I should have read this way before but ah.
6. A House Without Mirrors –  Mårten Sandén
   For Pushkin Press.
7. The Good Little Devil and Other Tales by  Pierre Gripari
8. Seconds by Bryan Lee O’Malley
9. Complicit by Stephanie Kuehn

But, but, but… I don’t want to make a TBR list. Putting books on a Must Read list is a sure way to incite my rebellious side. I will compromise with books I would like to read sometime soon, but may not necessarily get around to them.

1. The Green and Burning Tree: on the Writing and Enjoyment of Children’s Books by Eleanor Cameron.
2. The Company They Keep: C. S. Lewis and J. R. R. Tolkien as Writers in Community by Diana Pavlac Glyer.
3. Under My Skin by Charles de Lint, since I didn’t get to this during the summer.
4. The Count of Monte Crist0 by Alexandre Dumas, since I didn’t get to this during the summer, either.
5. Half World by Hiromo Goto.
6. The Faerie Queene by Edmund Spenser. At least one book from this tale. I want to meet Britomart and read more poetry, and this is the tidiest way to do both.
7. Singing the Dogstar Blues by Alison Goodman. I liked “The Real Thing,” a short story about Joss and Mav, so it’s time to read the book.
8. The Madness Underneath by Maureen Johnson. Yash talked me into reading The Name of the Star, which was not as creepy as I had thought it would be. Yash, I have much creepier books to lend you – and I’ve even read them! You’ll be impressed :p
9. Bombay Blues by Tanuja Desai Hidier. The just-released sequel to Born Confused.

THERE ARE SO MANY! This is so unfair.

1. Champion by Marie Lu – I have to read it because I haven’t yet and Marie Lu’s new book is coming and I have  to be all caught up.
2. Battle Royale – ok, this makes my list every time. I’ll read it. I promise.
3. Egg and Spoon – I too must read this! I’m just so darn curious!
4. The Unlikely Hero of 13B by Teresa Toten. This won the GG for 2013 and I’d like to read it before the winner of the 2014 GG is released :)
5. Animal Farm because I just got a copy and I’m gonna read it!
6. Something by Arthur Slade, because I REALLY enjoyed Dust and I trust him completely with my fragile mind and active imagination.
7. NAFIZA’S The Road of the Lost BECAUSE SHE WROTE IT FOR HER THESIS AND I’M GONNA GET IT OUTTA HER!!
8. I’d like to get my hands on The Diviners because it’s cold out now and I could really get into getting creeped out.
9. There are lots of local Ottawa Children’s Lit authors that I’d like to explore and read – so perhaps when I have to account for my reading some TTT later on, I’ll edify y’all with some Capital literature ;)
